NCES Information:

The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) maintains several web-based publications. that contain a variety of data and information regarding enrollment, completions, faculty and staff, and finance for elementary, secondary, and postsecondary education. Graduation rates are associated with first-year retention rates. The stage at which most students abandon their pursuit of a degree is during their first year. If a state has high proportions of students dropping out during the first year, it’s difficult to recover to relatively high graduation rates. It is also useful to look at other measures of degree production noting: Retention Rates – First-Time College Freshmen Returning Their Second Year.
