Need more evidence that world is changing and technology and the internet is going to keep playing a bigger role in your life? Here is another video from PeopleStreme that demonstrates the importance of knowing how to navigate the web, especially for those on their way into a new career.
The numbers in these videos are fun but what they demonstrate is the fact that things like Facebook, YouTube, and Social Media are not fads, not gimmicks, and not things to be ignored. Ignore them and risk being left behind.
We’ve been talking about the role of social media when it comes to finding a new job. This video, produced by PeopleStreme, demonstrates that role with hard numbers and data. And not just social media but technology in general. One lesson in this video is that people need to be able to learn and adapt extremely fast in order to survive in the current age. I believe that is good news for IBMC students. IBMC sets a pace that is more inline with the world we live in. Watch the video and think about how this facts impact your future.

On October 9th, 2009 IBMC held its 75th Commencement at The Lincoln Center in Fort Collins Colorado. It was an evening of celebration and pride as students received the degrees and certificates they worked so hard to get.
IBMC’s CEO, Richard Laub, got the evening started by welcoming everyone to the ceremony:
Social media is changing the way people live. It is changing the way we communicate and the way we navigate our lives. It is also changing the way employers research and hire new prospects. The days of the paper resume and classified ads are near an end. Anyone at the beginning of a new career path would be wise to learn a bit about how social media is being used by companies and candidates.
This blog will be a good place for you to begin that research. The IBMC Blog is going to begin a weekly feature on the topic of social media and careers.
I wanted to share with you this little video which was made by Socialnomics. The video is geared toward business but it has some amazing statistics that demonstrate how social media can not be ignored.
A few weeks back IBMC bought a Flip HD video camera to give to students with instructions to film their life inside and outside of IBMC. Annaliese is the first student in this new project. She is pursuing an Allied Health Degree in Medical Assisting at the Fort Collins campus. This video is the first in a series of video taken from the footage she shot.
When I visited the 9Health Fair on Saturday April 25th, I was surprised by the amount of people at the fair. So many that I had trouble finding a parking space. But the fair is such a great service to the citizens of Colorado it makes sense for so many to take advantage of it. And having so many people at the fair is also good for the IBMC students volunteering. Especially those in the Healthcare Programs.
Here is another short video of an IBMC student talking about her experience at the fair:
This video was shot during an assembly at the IBMC Fort Collins campus. IBMC’s President Steve Steele introduces the students to the “Blog Guy” and the IBMC social media campaign.
